*Internal Only* Floating Lead Custodian - District Level

 

 

 

SUMMARY:

The Floating Lead Custodian performs various tasks in order to maintain cleanliness/appearance both inside and outside the assigned building. The Floating Lead Custodian directs, supervises night activities, and assists custodial staff in the building assigned to with cleaning, maintenance, and training.  

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Assistant Custodial Supervisor
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff and others to perform job responsibilities as outlined

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 12 month (260-262 days) Group III
  2. Salary & Benefits are as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Starting at $22.62 per hour. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside professional contacts
  • Shall dress, look and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

 

Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Ability to work at height’s utilizing ladders; Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus;  Have the ability to lift and/or move a minimum of 70 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Act as an extension of the Head Custodians.

 

  1. Must be flexible and be able to follow/carry out all assignments from Head Custodian/Supervisors.

 

  1. Direct, rearrange, teach, show, inspect, and inform. Lead Persons may not discipline directly but must support disciplinary measures.

 

  1. Act as liaison between public, workers, and management.

 

 

  1. May direct personnel to different areas to work when needs exist or when work area conflicts arise due to public or school use of various locations at the direction of a supervisor.

 

  1. Must contact immediate supervisors (or other supervisors) when problems arise, in their absence, which need immediate attention.

 

  1. Must document for supervisor, in writing, daily problems or incidents that have occurred on their shift.

 

  1. Must inspect the work of the people in their charge and help, advise, and direct them to improve performance; they must keep supervisor informed of progress of these workers.

 

  1. Responsible for security of the building during and at the end of their respective shifts.

 

  1. Ensure daily work assignments of the people in their charge are carried out.

 

  1. Responsible for making sure that the building is clean and ready for class the following day.

 

  1. Must complete their personal work assignments in a satisfactory fashion.

 

  1. Must access and respond to snow removal. (Opening walkways and directing men to assist in this task)

 

  1. Other duties as assigned.
