The West Chester Area School District has the following Translator English<>Spanish position available: 

 

District-wide Translator English<>Spanish

 

The Translator will be responsible for translating written documentation and interpret for caregivers and families when needed.

 

The qualification requirements listed below represent the minimun levels 
• Prepare accurate, grammatically and idiomatically correct written translations in the English/Spanish language pair of written materials including brochures, handbooks, guides, curricular materials, policies, forms, tests, minutes, correspondence, procedures, reports, special education reports and documentation, etc. for the District office and school sites.
• Review, edit, and proof materials translated by other District personnel for accuracy, grammar, syntax, etc.
• Prepare translation glossaries and other guides.
• Develop and maintain a document management system for translated materials.
• Operate computer and office equipment to prepare translations and maintain related records.
• Interpret for District departments and schools to maintain communication with parents, including answering the District Spanish Dedicated Phone Line.
• Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Certificate of Translation English/Spanish preferred

• Experience working with translation memory (TMs) and Machine Translation (MT)
• Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers, administrators, caregivers and families, students, support staff and outside professional contacts

 

Qualified candidate will be required to do the following:
• Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, and/ or controls
• Talk and hear
• Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch
• Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills
• Work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility

 

COMPENSATION: Salary range $24.43-$25.92/hr.  Further details can be found in the contract agreement under Human Resources on the district's website.
