The West Chester Area School District has the following position available in our Pupil Services Department:
1.0 Pupil Services Technician
SUMMARY:
The Pupil Services Technician assists in the daily needs of the Pupil Services Department.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports directly to the Pupil Services Coordinator, Pupil Services Specialist and the Director of Pupil Services.
- Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff, and others to perform job responsibilities as outlined.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 12 month (260-262 day).
- Group 3 Salary (step/level placement) & Benefits are as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. (Starting at $24.43 per hour)
QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Strong data analytical skills and related use of technology.
- Possess effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with other teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff and outside professional contacts
- The employee in this position could be required as part of his or her duties to engage in activities that can be charged to a Medical Assistance or other state or federal healthcare program. Clearance as provider under such programs by both the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the federal government is therefore an essential qualification for this position.
Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills; and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee will be required to be consistently at work and perform any other position-related duties requested by the supervisor.
- Complete Penn Data (Child Count) submission and all subsequent tables as required with the assistance of the Pupil Services Coordinator.
- Maintain and support all data in the IEP system for Special Education, 504s and Gifted. Ensure compliance of all student documents, including but not limited to: IEP software troubleshooting, working directly with the vendor for enhancements to the system, monthly caseloads/compliance lists, new staff accounts, rostering, and data reports as needed.
- Child Accounting: Maintain an accounting of all invoices and costs related to special education students. Calculate the annual cost per student.
- Enter and accept 4010 and 4011 applications for funding through PDE’s system as submitted by state Approved Private Schools.
- Assist the Pupil Services Coordinator with federal, state and local reporting requirements for the Pupil Services department; including, but not limited to: Charter Schools, Contingency funding, Wards of State/Non-Resident students, Act 16, Act 80, Act 339 Career Ed, Safe Schools, Senior Surveys, Health Report, Special Ed Plan and Annual Program Profile.
- Maintain enrollments of charter school students and input data into the student enrollment system. In addition, assist the Pupil Services Coordinator in maintaining monthly projections related to each school’s enrolment.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
