The West Chester Area School District has the following position available:

 

1.0 -  Communications Specialist - Spellman Education Center

 

SUMMARY:

The Communication Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the district’s website and mobile app and supporting digital communication across platforms. This role ensures that all digital properties are accessible, user-friendly, visually consistent, and aligned with the district’s strategic priorities. The position also supports the distribution and organization of digital content.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 12 month (260-262 days)
  2. Salary and benefits in accordance with the Non-Bargaining/Confidential unit of the West Chester Area School District. The salary range is $67,579-$91,510 per year. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

 

Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Sit (80% of the work day) and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus;  Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.

  1. Document district events on the district’s website and affiliated social media networks.
  2. Regularly update site content (text, images, documents, event calendars).
  3. Ensure all links, forms, and navigation are functional.
  4. Maintain consistent branding, accessibility, and usability across pages.
  5. Organize content to ensure ease of use and a high-quality experience.
  6. Enforce content style guidelines and ADA/Section 508 accessibility compliance.
  7. Approve or publish content submitted by other staff or departments.
  8. Archive outdated content to maintain relevance and compliance.
  9. Track site traffic, search queries, and user engagement using analytics tools.
  10. Recommend improvements based on data insights.
  11. Ensure the website aligns with the organization’s communications and outreach goals.
