West Chester Area School District has the following position available with our Facilities & Operations Department:

 

 

1.0 Building Systems Supervisor

 

 

SUMMARY:

The Building Systems Supervisor shall be responsible for maintaining cost-effective programs, the daily work schedule of the Building Systems staff, responding to maintenance emergencies, assisting in developing and maintaining predictive and preventative maintenance schedules, approve and assign work requests, and interaction with vendors, clients, staff, and the public.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. 12 months (260-262 days).

 

  1. Salary & Benefits in accordance with the Non-Bargaining/Confidential unit of the West Chester Area School District.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications and requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

 

 

Must be able to reach above and below the waist, walk and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects. Requires use of both hands for repetitive motion. Able to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb and crawl. Lifts/carries supplies weighing 70lbs or more. Ability to work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees. Able to stand or walk eighty percent (80%) of workday. Ability to work alone and with little supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee will be required to be consistently at work and perform any other position-related duties requested by the supervisor

 

  1. Assignment of daily work schedule to the Building Systems staff, including assigning and distributing of work orders in the District’s Computerized Maintenance Management System. Ensures the Building Systems staff has the appropriate training, supplies, tools and equipment to perform the daily work.

 

  1. Responds to daily emergencies and after-hours emergencies as they arise and works on resolving them.

 

  1. Assists the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations in developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for all the building and electrical equipment within the District, including scheduling of inspections both internally and externally, and periodic replacement of this equipment.

 

  1. Completes follow-up inspections of various work orders and maintenance jobs, and submits any and all deficiencies to the Asst. Director of Facilities and Operations.

 

  1. Works with the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations and Capital Program Manager to develop and budget a General Fund Project List for each year.

 

  1. Assists in overseeing the status of any projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations. Coordinates the completion of these projects including managing the budget and managing the completion of the work by either internal staff or outside vendors.

 

  1. Works cooperatively with all department leadership when scheduling projects that require the assistance of Building Systems Staff.

 

  1. Works on daily maintenance work orders or jobs as assigned.

 

  1. Coordinates the District’s lock and key system with the Public Safety Manager, including re-coring of existing locks, creating new lock cores, and overseeing the District locksmith and access control systems.

 

  1. Manages repairs of building system components including electrical systems, roofing systems, PA/AV systems, security systems, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, kitchen hood suppression systems, elevators/lifts, doors and hardware, interior finishes and building envelope components.

 

  1. Manages an inventory of supplies for these various system components. Procures additional stock and supplies, when necessary, in accordance with the District’s purchasing process.

 

  1. Supervise and perform evaluations for all department personnel.

 

  1. Perform project site visits and inspections as needed

 

  1. Performs other assignments as directed by the Director/Asst. Director of Facilities and Operations.
