West Chester Area School District has the following Reading Specialist position(s) available - District Level (*Certification requirement(s) – appropriate valid PA certification):

 

1.0 – Reading Specialist – East High School

 

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

 

The Reading Specialist reports directly to the building principal, and works cooperatively with other administrators, supervisors, staff, parents/guardians, and works with students to provide supplemental reading instruction; coordinate and monitor the reading language arts program; keeps professional staff members informed of the various materials and appropriate strategies; cooperates with professional staff members to insure effective programs and keep the principal abreast of developments and program progress. The Reading Specialist serves as a resource, models lessons and coaches teachers.

 

The Reading Specialist will also work cooperatively with and through the Language Arts Supervisor in coordinating the District's Reading and Language Arts Programs. Minimum Requirements are:
